Everyone can cook

October 7, 2011

So the funny thing is a lot of my posts may be about food instead of art. I guess they’ve gone hand and hand for centuries.

It’s 11pm and we’re working late, no surprise. We often add entertainment to the late night work. I just caught Chris listening to Mark Bittman on TED. Now that’s just great. Seriously.
When I met Chris he thought potatoes and black beans made a meal. Now he follows Bittman. (16 years later; so evolution does take time.)

It began with brewing. He loved to brew and drink beer. Still loves the drinking it part. Duh. We moved to Wyoming from Portland, OR. The keg-aerator didn’t make the move. Built a house. Had kids. Not so much brewing. But yeast is still fascinating. He began making some of the best bread around. Inspired because the options were few.

Years later he applied this same fascination to pizza. He kept notebooks and has tried at least 100 dough variations. He bought a digital scale and weighs all he cooks. Wow. And after testing every canned tomato he could get his hands on and filling up 3, (three!) notebooks with tests, he truly has perfected his crust and sauce. His pizza is delicious. This from a man of beans and potatoes. He follows Bittman.

Hmmm, now that I look at this photo, maybe this post is about art.
